The scenario is EHP6 upgrade of our ECC6 EHP4 Unix/Oracle servers. We are using SUM version 1.0.4 patch level 3
The first sandbox EHP6 upgrade testing has become stuck in the phase PREP_EXTENSION/IS_SELECT. The short version of the story is that we have several add-in products that are no longer used -- and the maintenance contract with the vendor dropped. The SUM proceeds to the Add-On selection screen and requires choices to KEEP existing, UPGRADE or DELETE. Without a support contract, upgrade is not an option. Logically then I select keep, we don't use it, it is in a separate namespace -- so leave it alone. SUM has decided that the only way forward is to DELETE these add-ins. This requires the original SAR files be added to the EPS/in directory. After several days searching for 5 year old software, I found what appear to be the correct SAR files add upload these to the EPS/in directory. However this does not resolve the problem.
To date the message I opened with SAP has been fruitless, pointing continually to SAP note 1324910. The short version of that note is "not an SAP problem".
So, to the experienced upgraders out there: any suggestions, workarounds or kludges? We are not really interested in buying support for this old product to get the vendor to work with us.
